Michigan is not far from where I used to live in the Chicago area, and I have been there several times. I have camped along the shores of Lake Michigan near Holland, and I have picked blueberries on one of the many farms in southern Michigan that grows them. Many years ago I also visited the North Woods on the Upper Peninsula.
One of my most memorable visits involved a trip in May 1995 to Mio, Michigan to search for the Kirtland's warbler. My "Off The Beaten Path" section deals with that particular trip.
My most comprehensive trip to the Great Lakes State was in September 2002 when I was passing through on my way to Toronto, Canada. I stopped long enough to see some of the sights in Detroit, the state's largest city. Since then, I passed through Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport a couple of times on my way to other destinations.

LoriPori Mon Apr 7, 2008 12:48 UTC Enjoyed your page on Michigan Dave. We go there quite often and esp like the Lake Michigan towns of Grand Haven, Saugatuk, Douglas and South Haven. | Bwana_Brown Fri Nov 30, 2007 18:16 UTC Michigan is a state I haven't visited, so thanks for the interesting info on Detroit's founding by Cadillac. I also did not realize Kirtland's warbler was that endangered. It was nice to learn the details from your experience! | deecat Fri Aug 31, 2007 15:44 UTC Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac information was fascinating. I like the fact that you know the history of the place & present the facts in an interesting, unbiased way. Great info about the Kirtland's warbler too. Congrats on viewing it. Enjoyed these pages. | Kuznetsov_Sergey Mon Jul 17, 2006 08:38 UTC Hi, David! it was very interesting to get to know about Detroit history and Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac. As I could understand the name of the wellknown american car is connected with the name of this frenchman? |
