"United States of America " a United States of America Travel Page by traveldave

I am sure that most Americans who are members of Virtual Tourist like to travel to foreign countries (and I am guilty of this myself) to see new and exotic lands and cultures. However, in doing so, they run the risk of missing many of the things there are to see in this country. The United States is so vast and varied that one could spend a lifetime traveling here and not see it all. I have been fortunate in having visited 47 states, and one of my travel-related goals is to see the other three (Arkansas, Hawaii, and Oregon).

Many foreign visitors to the United States seem to concentrate one or two of the major cities on the east or west coast. If time and/or money is not an object, then it would be rewarding to see some of the natural wonders and less well-known states and cities of this country as well.

I was young when I visited most of the states I have been to, so unfortunately I do not have many pictures documenting my travels throughout America. I know it is possible to scan pictures from books or magazines, or to get pictures from the web. However, I try not to post pictures on my pages that I have not taken myself, since these pages are about my travels, not someone else's. Therefore, unless I have pictures from a particular state, many of my American state pages will remain unbuilt for the time being.

However, I have recently started taking road trips to other states specifically to see some of the sights and attractions, and to take photographs for new Virtual Tourist pages. I will slowly be adding pages about new states, and enhancing already-built pages as my American travels increase.

The United States is too large a country to adequately cover in one page like this. Therefore, I have included under "Things to Do" some basic statistical information about each of the 50 states.
