Louvre interior
Prague social scene. There will be business lunches going on, lots of papers being read and general after dinner discussion. Opens at 8am for the early birds. There is also a pool room in the back with three tables.
Favorite Dish: Classic Czech food with English translation.
Address: Narodni Trida 20
Comparison: less expensive than average
Directions: In Narodni, 20 metres back from Tescos towards the river. Look up to the frst floor to see the sign. The Louvre entry is next to Reduta Jazz Cafe.

Lebanese cooking
The first time I came here I didn't have a clue about what to order. I settled on the set menu but, asked the waiter not to bring the olives as I do not like them. No problem he says, what can I bring you instead. Lebanese is all about trying lots of different dishes (basically anything I can scrape out of a bowl with the bread). 1200kc for two for a really good meal. I recommend this for dinner as lunch may leave you wanting to sleep.
Favorite Dish: Hommous and ground lamb
Address: Burzovni palac, Rybna 14, .
Comparison: less expensive than average
Directions: From the Old Town Square walk along Dlouha and take the second to last road on the right before the traffic lights. This is Rybna.
Price: US$11-20

The cellar
I kid you not, Squirrel soup, Ostrich steak, Aligator steak can all be found here in one of the best 'Cellar' restaurants(15th Century). Mainly a Czech restaurant but, with a lot of other choices as you can see. You'll be paying around 2000kc for a meal for two.
Favorite Dish: Rattlesnake and Squirrel
Address: Rytirska 16
Comparison: about average
Directions: Opposite the entry to the big Ceska Sporitelna Bank and next to the jewllers. The same road as the Tourist Information shop.

Fish Preparation
I used to recommend Reykjavik but, apart from the 'Salmon and Plaice Duette' I don't go there for anything else. I now recommend Rybi Trh (Fish Market).
Ultra Fresh food and you can walk up and choose which you want cooked.
Favorite Dish: Grilled Trout - expensive but, worth it if you are a fish fan.
Address: Tynsky Dvur
Comparison: more expensive than average
Directions: The enclosed courtyard at the back of Tyn Church. Metamorphis is on the corner and adjacent to it is Rybi Trh.
Price: US$31-40

A Bagel
Bohemia Bagel - Others recommend it but, did you find it? Ujezd 16 or Masna 2 (Masna 2 details below).
You can eat in the cafe or take away back to the square with the coffee that you would probably have bought at the same time. Personally I don´t like to hang around until someone shouts out my name but, the egg and bacon breakfast bagel I can wait for.
Favorite Dish: Cinnamon Bagel with Losos and horseradish (in New York it's called Locks I think). Anyway it's cold smoked salmon and horseradish.
Address: Masna 2
Comparison: less expensive than average
Directions: From Caffreys Irish Bar on the square, walk away from the square until you get to the roundabout. Turn right into "Masna" and it's 20 metres on the right.
Other Contact: Opens until midnight , 7 days.
Price: less than US$10

Kampa interior
I don't know about favourite but, most expensive is Kampa Park.
During the summer or at any time when filming is going on in Prague, the stars are normally to be found dining here at least once a week but, the clientele are normally not carrying cameras. I don´t recommend this place at the moment for outside dining. If you are on the upper tier it's ok but, on the lower tier you'll be looking at 6 feet of rusty steel.
Favorite Dish: Only been there at lunchtime and then I had a well done steak.
Comparison: most expensive
Directions: On the Mala Strana side of Charles Bridge, if you look over where the childrens playground is located, you will see candles burning outside the entrance to the restaurant.
Other Contact: Lunch times are easier to get in
Price: US$41 and up

Dancing House
Almost all guides show where Frank Gehry's 'Dancing House' can be found but, not many tell you that there is a French Restaurant located at the top. Opens for lunch (500Kc - 10 Pounds, not on Monday) and for A La Carte in the evening (1500Kc - 30 Pounds). In the evening opens at 7pm and closes at 1030pm. Has a summer terrace must can be a little noisy but, recommended on a clear evening for the best views of the castle.
Favorite Dish: French Cuisine
Address: Dancing House - Rasinovo nabrezi 80
Comparison: more expensive than average
Directions: Two bridges downstream from the Charles Bridge and on the Old Town side
Price: US$31-40

Kogo, Havelska
Quite simply a very nice Italian food restaurant, excellent value for money, well located and most definitely not your average pizzeria.
Favorite Dish: Tagliatelle in Salmon and Cream sauce.
Address: Slovansky Dum, Na Prikope
Comparison: less expensive than average
Directions: At the bottom of Wenceslas Square facing up, turn left along Na Prikope. On the right after 250 metres is the Slovansky Dum shopping centre. Restaurant is at the rear.
Price: US$11-20

This is one of the abodes of the Prague social scene. You'll bump into many well known Czech celebrities during the week. A special place where we would go on special occasions.
Favorite Dish: Anything on the menu is excellent but, the chicken with chestnut stuffing is the one for me. I can only eat a starter and main or main and dessert. I cannot manage all three. It has an outside terrace which looks up to the castle gardens.
Address: www.palffy.cz
Comparison: about average
Directions: Located in an old school in Waldstejnska under Prague Castle (Mala Strana). The restaurant is on the first floor and you will need to make a reservation. Smart dress is essential if you don't want to feel out of place.
Price: US$21-30
