Because i was born in Zagreb and live all my life in this beutiful city i will show you some picture and give some information about him. Zagreb is the largest city and capital of the Republic of Croatia. It has nearly 1,000,000 inhabitants. It lies at the bottom of Mount Medvednica (or Zagrebacka gora - 1035 m) and along the banks of the River Sava, 170 km from the Adriatic Sea. Zagreb is consist of three areas: The Upper Town (Gornji grad) and Kaptol: the well-preserved historical core of the city, rich in old churches and secular buildings can be seen throughout the city.the Lower Town (Donji grad):This is the largest part of Zagreb. It is built at the turn of the 19th century and New Zagreb (Novi Zagreb): a part of city with modern architecture built since the end of the Second World War on the other side of river Sava.

|  | lower town The city is divided into three parts: the thousand-year old Gornji grad (upper town) which contains the Presidential Palace, the historic church of St. Mark's, the Croatian parliament, and museums and galleries which are all set in cobbled streets lit by gas lamps; the 19th century Donji grad (lower town) with its shops, restaurants, cafes, theatres, parks; and the modern post-war (WWII) Novi Zagreb (new Zagreb) which is full of high-rise buildings and basically has nothing to offer tourists.
In the lower town, you can do your shopping in the main shopping street Ilica or visit one of the more prominent museums or galleries, like the Strossmayer Gallery, the Gallery of Modern Art, the Ethnographic Museum and the famous Mimara museum (Rooseveltov trg 5) which, with almost 4,000 priceless objects, is one of the finest art galleries in Europe. |
|  | Novi Zagreb Novi Zagreb (literally "New Zagreb") is the part of the city of Zagreb that is located to the south of the Sava river. It is mostly residential, consisting of blocks of flats and tower blocks that were built in the Socialist era (1945-1990). It is formed by two 'quarters' ('θetvrti'): Novi Zagreb Istok (New Zagreb East) and Novi Zagreb Zapad (New Zagreb West). |
