Croatian coast
My dear friends all of the world,

My name is Dalibor and I live in Zagreb, capital city of republic Croatia. You probably wonder: Where is Croatia? Who are those people trying to make their way to modern Europe?! Where did they come from?! No wonder! Croatia isn't the biggest, the richest, or the most populated country! But superlatives are indeed something to remind you of Croatia! Even from 7th century, when we have inhabited Adriatic coast and the Panonian plane, Croatian people can be proud of contribution to European culture and civilization. Everything you know about Croatia is probably due to the merciless war Croatia was hit by during the last decade. But now, when Croatia is finally safe, and, most of all, peaceful country. Is there something about Croatia worthy to get your attention?! Of course there is!

Did you know that:
The Propelling Pencil you write with every day is a Croatian invention and was patented by Zagreb resident Slavoljub Penkala?!

Did you know that:
The Tie, inevitable garment is offspring of the cravat is a scarf worn by Croatian soldiers centuries ago?!

Did you know that:
Croatian Adriatic coast, with the total of 1,185 islands and 2,600 sunny hours, is one of the sunniest countries in Europe!
Dubrovnik

Dubrovnik - my favourite city!

The city of Dubrovnik is situated in the very south of the Republic of Croatia. The city of Dubrovnik encloses the tiny Elaphite archipelago (Sipan, Lopud, Kolocep, Tajan, Olipa, Jakljan and Daksa). The city of Dubrovnik is a pageant of open picturesque scenes. Fortifications, bridges, palaces, balconies, chapels, terraces, town squares, streets, monastic cloisters - the city is full of theatre - like atmosphere and rhythm.

Bol

Bol - island Brac

Bol is the first and the oldest town on the island's coast. It is situated by itself on the southern side of the island Brac. Bol is famous for its beautiful beaches, full of white pebbles, and the beach Zlatni rat is considered the most beautiful beach in the whole of Adriatic. It cuts into the sea towards the south with its half-kilometre long body, and it quivers restlessly with its white tongue, obeying the winds and submitting to the waves that move it to and fro.

National Park island BRIJUNI

National Park island BRIJUNI

The most interesting group of small islands situated along the western Istrian coast is the group of fourteen Brijuni islands northwest from Pula. The Brijuni islands were proclaimed a national park on 27th October 1983.

Rovinj

Rovinj - nice town

Rovinj, important centre on the Western coast of Istrian region (Republic of Croatia), is a meeting point of North Adriatic. It has the status of a city and it it the seat of numerous municipal and regional boards and administrations (cca. 15.000 inhabitants). The historic nucleus is piled up on a hill, on a very narrow building area of former island, with houses bunched together up to the door-step of the baroque church of St. Euphemia.

National Park island KORNATI

National Park island KORNATI

The Croatian Adriatic is undoubtedly one of the most indented shorelines in the world and the islands in the Kornati group are a good example of this. The Kornati islands are the densest and most indented island group on the eastern Mediterranean. The Kornati island group consists of a labyrinth of 140 islands, islets and reefs making up a total area of 69 square kilometres and covering some 300 square kilometres. The island group was proclaimed a national park on 24th July 1980.

Amphitheater - Pula

Amphitheater - Pula

Built the end of the I Century A.D. Amphitheater was completed under the Roman Emperor Titus Flavius Vespasianus (79 - 81 A.D.)
Note: among the preserved amphitheaters, the Amphitheater in Pula ranks sixth according to its size, and it is second (together with amphitheaters in Verona and Pozzuoli) only to Coliseum in Rome judging by the number of stories.

These pictures of introduction are fabulous. The country is so beautiful and we hoped to get there in 2009, but want to spend 4 weeks, so not enough time for now-but we will get there. Thank you for the tour
