  • Ghana issues very beautiful post stamps. You can buy them at the main post office on Main Street in Accra.
Open every working day, the post office acts as a philatelic center.
Ghanaian stamps are very nice, good quality.
You can buy the whole production of the last years, even stamps from 20 years ago.
I could find very old ones, in the house of a very old doctor in a village. He had stamps of the British colony and stamps from 1957 and after, when Ghana became the first independant country.

  • A trip to Ghana would not be complete without a visit to Cape Coast, the capital city of Ghana's legendary Central Region.
Located one and a half hours directly West of Accra, Cape Coast is the hear of Ghana's rich historical past. It will offer you a unique view of Ghana as the first point of contact and former center of European colonial activity on Africa's West Coast. Three of the Central Region's most prominent fortifications, Cape Coast and Elmina Castles and Fort St. Jago, officially designated as World Heritage Sites by the United Nations, record the horror of the millions of Africans who were captured, enslaved and shipped to the Americas.

  • This reserve is the closest from Accra-Tema area. You can see monkeys, mainly baboons, dozens of antelopes, and a lot of birds.
Don't go during the raining season because grass is too high and you don't see anything.
Visit is with a 4WD, and you must take a guide on board.
4-5 hours visit is OK. Take camera with teleobjectives minimum 300mm.
The last time, I could picture a big babbon male. I was 15 metres from him. Then the tribe was 40 metres behind him. I could not stay too much, he was about to attack me.
Later, as I was on the hill to see bats, as I was coming back to the truck, I heart a lot of barkings. There were the baboons. I just had time to run to the car.
When you go out of the car, don't stay to far, one never knows!

  • Imagine all trees and flowers of West Africa growing together in this park.
This is Aburi garden, on the top of the hill ( the mountain as they say here) The temperature is very sweet, 30 km from the coast and 700 metres high.
You can take a half day or a day to visit. The maintenance is not at its best, but there is not a lot of money for this garden, and the gate fee is very small, 10000 cedis, 1 Euro. When I went there I received 500 receipts of 200 cedis. They had still to get rid of the 1990 production of vouchers.
