Blue Gate: Fresh grilled fish

In the evening, go to this local spot and try a grilled tilapia.
You chose a fresh tilapia and they grill it for you before they serve it with rice and vegetables and of course s.h.i.to. You can have it in the restaurant or take away.
The grill is really on the street, I really enjoy this spot, even if they always try to cheat you. (you choose a fish and you might have a smaller one after).

The spot is close to a kind of hostel where all the Nigerian prostitues first live when they arrive Ghana.

Dress Code: Cool

Address: Osu Blue Gate

Directions: In Osu, turn left at papaye junction and drive to the end of the road, till you meet a T junction.
It is just before on the left, and you will know by crowd or a nice smelling grilling tilapia.

Macumba: My favourite night club

Best night Club in Accra, mainly for foreigners. In Africa, you go to clubs to meet young nice girls. Best girls are in Macumba.
Gate fee: 20000 Cedis and 25000 for Friday and Satutday nights.
Plenty of sexy girls, but you will have to pay. It is a kind of tradition to make a gift to girls, as a foreigner you can give 200.000 cedis or best pay in dollars. If you bring them in a big hotel, they can charge you more.
But remember, all of them dream to be Julia Roberts and you Richard Gere in 'Pretty woman'.

There are a lot of dancings and night clubs emerging in Accra, a little bit everywhere, however, they open and close after some few months. Macumba is the real one, has been there for a very long time and will be there.

back in Ghana in 2010
Macumba is still alive but it is no longer the place to be. Barely 50 people on Saturday night. There are now so many night clubs in Accra. Price is 10 cedis, or 100000 old cedis. Is it worth for a empty night club?

California Bar: California Bar

Very nice African atmosphere. This bar on the street atracts a lot of people to chat with. They have a lot of local food and beverages, like the famous Kasapreko. They also have the Gingseng Wine. Try it, 7000 for one bottle.
After that, you spend a great love night...

You can meet everybody, chat with all guys and girls there. The music is also present, and you can meet girls coming from Macumba to drink cheaper.
I remember I already left the place at 8:30 in the morning.

Aquarius: Aquarius

AQUARIUS
used to be a German bar but the owners are presently Russians. Very nice place to go from 21:30 till 00:30.
4 billiards, Darts, cocktails and beers, very international, very expensive, European prices!

However, the place to go before going to night clubs.

Now, they added dancing floor and large screen TV.

Dress Code: Cool
Beware of the numerous money girls who will ask you a drink. If they stay too long in the place without a drink, they are quicked out. When you pay the drink, they use to take it and leave you.

Directions: OSU 1st road on the right after Danqauh Circle driving to Labadi. 300m on the left.

Champ's: Champ's

Best night: Friday.
I use to go there as a Before on Friday. There is a karaoke night while most expatriates meet from 10PM to 1AM.
Unique: the shooter bar: for 10000 cedis (1USD) you have a shooter of cocktail ( my favorite is the B52 and the blow-job ( but this one is just because I like to ask it to the nice waitress))

You have pools and kickers, darts, nice atmosphere.

The bar is also a club for people who like to watch sport on television, large screen for mainly the Premier UK league, but also Cups, F1, golf, etc.

On Thursday, always a Quizz, but if you are not British, don't hope to win.

On Sunday, you have two recent movies on DVD on large screen at 8PM

You can have delicious tex-mex food and imported beer.

Next Door is an open place on the beach.
You can drink, eat, dance and play on this very large place.
You have some lovely huts alongside the beach where you can go with your loved one or some friends. Tables are well separated.
On the other side, you have more conventional restaurant and bar, and dancing place.
Next Door organises a lot of different parties with themes.
It is always a very nice and innovative place.

Food is cheap but is very common.

From 6PM till 1AM, you can go and listen to music till 10PM when people start dancing.
You can eat some barbecue food (kebab and grilled chicken).
The bar is a very long one in U, perhaps the longest of Accra.
Funny: when it is raining, you are stacked inside, the water is everywhere and there is only one way to the gutter: the gate.

Wai-ki-ki: Monday's best

The place to be on Mondays.
Everything is closed in Accra on Mondays... but Wai-ki-ki...
From midnight to after dawn, you have a real nice night each and every Monday.
Gate fee is very reasonable, and there are some strict rules so that there is never any problem in and around the club.

There is a small parking, so it is advisable to park your car in the street, else you might be blocked or worse, see people sitting on your car or have some scratches because of other moving cars.

One nice boy at the gate who worked in Amsterdam and speaks Dutch.

Good music, good events.

The club is in a place called Triangle of Bermuda, because there were three similar night spots in the area.
The former name of Wai-ki-ki was Piccadilly, which was changed by everybody into "pick-a-lady" since it is very easy to get a girl there.

Since there is a lot of competition with not money girls, students, home girls, etc. it is not a place to go with your wife/girlfriend.

One says that going to Wai-ki-ki alone and come back alone is only for gays, real men cannot be resist.

Dress Code: Cool.

Directions: Coming from Ring Road on Circle, turn left to Accra. After 150 m on the left, opposite the filling station. A lot of people selling food and general goods outside. Police control, so no problem.
