Azur: Azur

Old hotel in Pointe Noire, Azur needs a lot of renovations. UNfortunately, what could be a nice hotel is more or less abandonned whereas there are so many customers.
I had to fight with mosquitos and cockroaches in my bedrooms, and wait for warm water that never came. The airconditionning is not cooling well and is as noisy as a plane.

Unique Qualities: Breakfast: take it out, for 10,000 CFA (20$) you go to other nice places. Tea and coffee are not drinkable, orange juice is too sweet, and bread tastes like the one from the day before.

However, the place is nice to have a drink at the bar or to walk in the large garden.

Address: Cote Sauvage

Comparison: more expensive than average

Price: US$120-180

Palm Beach: Palm Beach, on the Cote Sauvage, facing the sea

Pointe Noire does not have the best accomodations: usually people going to Pointe Noire are not tourists bu employees or consultants of the petrol industry. They have already nice guest houses.
Hotels are for short stays. Palm Beach is one of the least bad. Rooms are correct, breakfast is eatable and you are directly in the centre of the town for your activities.

Unique Qualities: There is a pool and a sundeck. a nice view on the beach and the sea accross the road.

Address: Cote Sauvage

Comparison: more expensive than average

Directions: Behind the train station

Price: US$20-40

Novotel: Novotel

I did not stay there, nobody stays there anylonger. Since the civil war in 1998-1999, the has been stolen to Accor group and run by a local lady bound to the new Government. A disaster! The hotel is a ruin and the service is very far from the quality of the real Novotels in other countries.

Comparison: more expensive than average

Price: US$120-180
