SF Views: COOL LOOKOUT - Corona Heights....
  • Tip Rating:
  • COOL LOOKOUT - Corona Heights. Most tourists end up going up Twin Peaks for the view (which is great), but there's a really cool lookout that most locals don't even know exists. It requires a bit of walking (lots of uphill). Start out at Market and Castro. Walk up Castro (North) to 15th Street. Turn left (West) and head up 15th to Roosevelt Way. Turn left on Roosevelt Way (Southeast) and walk to Museum Way (entrance to the grassy park on your left). Walk over to the big hill (very obvious) and walk up it (very rocky and loose underfoot) for the BEST view of the city without needing to drive. METRO: Castro Station

Other NEIGHBORHOODS: WEST PORTAL - This quiet...
  • Tip Rating:
  • WEST PORTAL - This quiet neighborhood is located on the far side of the Twin Peaks hills. So far, it's been relatively untouched by the mass gentrification of a lot of the city. The retail strip is about four or five blocks long, with a few nice restaurants, coffee shops, and other assorted stores. The neighborhood was built in tandem with the streetcar tunnel through the hills, early in the century. Today, you can take a K, L or M METRO train from Market Street to the West Portal station.
