Going Solo in Venice

by cheapskate - last update: Feb 20, 2006

One of the Many Canals

gondolas everywhere
Venice Venice Venice... I really enjoyed myself in Venice. Nothing really compares to Venice. Gondolas are part of the charm... Gondola guys seranading couples are so totally cheesy... but i love it.. I'm just jealous.. :)

Endless canals.. getting lost in Calles.. Venetian masks... Old wooden windows... what's there not to love?

Seriously... Nothing compares to Venice. It's a small place, no doubt, yet it has everything to offer. For those who love shopping, looking for a romantic place, a place to eat, sight seeing, and for those who are arty farties..

I had only a short stay here... i did not cover everything.. but i covered as much as I could... I'm trying to make this page as helpful as possible but i think i get sidetracked once in awhile and get carried away with my mindless thoughts.. So i guess this acts more like a travel journal + tips page... :)

don't forget to look at all the pictures!

un bacio.
Campanile at Torcello

Torcello

There are three other islands that you can visit. This is one.. Torcello. It's really quiet here.. coz there isn't much to see.. But i liked it.. coz there were fewer people.

It's REALLY REALLY REALLY windy here though.

More in the Thing to Do tips.
Rows and rows of colourful houses

Burano & Murano

These are handicraft islands. Especially Murano.. there isn't much to see except for glass blowing factories and endless rows of souvenir shops selling Murano glass.

Burano is more interesting though.. colourful houses and nice little canal ways too. Lots of shops selling lace there!

Pros:"Romantic Old Charm"
Cons:"Too romantic when you're alone!"
In A Nutshell:"So much to see.. so little time..!"
