Kumanovo Travel Guide: 23 reviews and 84 photos

300 years before Ottomans, The Kuman Turks were one of the Turkish tribes that came to Balkans. Kumanovo, which derives from the word Kuman-ova literally means "the plain of the Kuman" where the Kumas settled there 800 years before.

Of course, there arent any signs of existence of Kumans now. They are melted with the local Slavic people.

I did not visit Kumanovo. I just passed there on the way from Bulgarian border to Skopje.

Kumanovo is 35 km to Skopje and 77 km to Bulgarian-Makedonijan border (Deve bayir).
