WELCOME TO MY TRAVEL PAGES!!!!!
I live a very conventional life in Colorado. I travel to break up that pattern. You won't see pictures of me standing in front of a roadsign or of my family gathered around a table reading the menu. That wouldn't show you much about the places I've visited. Those photos will forever remain in my family albums. Instead, I'd like to present photos that will give you my impressions of life in the countries I've visited. That's why I don't have very many developed pages.
All the sites I have put on VT have travelogues and information. The photos aren't necessarily of the "Travel Bureau" variety. They include the "good, the bad and the ugly" (and the funny)!! The picture on this page is one example of someone who intrigued me in Mexico City. He was protesting for better living conditions for the elderly. It was called, "The Blanco Revolution" (referring to those with white hair). It's all about survival. That's the biggest lesson to be learned from traveling through a diverse and struggling country like Mexico. Even with the poverty, there is joy, and hope. I didn't want to turn away from it or to ignore it's consequences. I've traveled to Mexico many many times between the '70's and 2002. To say that it still facinates me is an understatement.
My trip to Germany was my first experience in Europe. I found it to be facinating. We also went to France, Austria and Switzerland. Most of our time was spent in Germany....so I took many more pictures of the sites and people there. Having only been there once for a few weeks, I'm not an expert about their history or their living habits. I saw Germany as a tourist and I think my photos will be of interest to other tourists, too.
For people who are planning trips to my home state of Colorado, I've begun to put up some pages with information and ideas for your visit. I will be adding to them as I can. I'd be happy to answer any questions you might have about Denver.
I hope you enjoy my pages and I'd love to hear your comments!! |
