Our room: standard twin
I stayed here with some friends in the 1st week of October 2009, during the National Day holidays. They booked and paid for the room, so I'm not sure what the price was, but later upon checking I would put the price at around 250-300 RMB/night.
The hotel's location isn't particularly central, nor is it in a lively area. We had to walk quite a long way back from where we had dinner.
Otherwise, the room facilities are very good for the price. The hotel was recently renovated in 2008 and thus quite new and clean. Beds were firm but comfortable. There's food and drink (water, Coke, instant noodles etc) for sale on the room table in case you get hungry. There's a hairdryer in the bathroom, which was nice.
Chinese-style buffet breakfast was included in the room price, with items such as porridge, steamed buns, preserved vegetables, sunny-side-up eggs, tea eggs and even roast duck (?!). We went down a little late but there was still enough to eat, though I mostly ate plain porridge and egg cooked in various ways... I probably ate about 4-5 eggs in that one breakfast! Other guests who came later, a little before the breakfast buffet ended, complained that there was nothing left to eat -- there was still plenty of plain porridge left but almost no dishes, who wants to eat plain porridge on its own! The kitchen staff hurried to cook an extra dish or two, but most of them chose to leave and find breakfast elsewhere.

The name GP stands for "Good Place", reflected in the Chinese name of "Hao3 Di4 Fang1". It is indeed a good place to stay at!
Price range around 138-198 RMB, mine was 158 RMB.
It's walking distance to Guandi Temple, the Puppet Museum and Qingjing Mosque. Very convenient for sightseeing and getting around. There's a bus stop on Tumen Jie right in front of the hotel, IIRC there's a bus to Kaiyuan Temple but I don't remember which number it was.
Unique Qualities: A huge bed -- 2 double beds pushed together to make 1.
Clear glass walls for the shower room -- good thing I was staying alone!
Toilet was in a separate cubicle from the shower room, had normal walls, but frosted glass door with no lock.
No windows and everything is sparkling clean.
Extremely comfortable if you don't mind it being bizarre... or if you're a couple. ;)

Listed in Lonely Planet China 2005 as a 3-star hotel, it has now been upgraded to a 4-star hotel. The cheapest rooms were 200 RMB but that was when the renovations were still underway. I doubt that price still stands. Reception staff were pleasant and helpful.
Unique Qualities: Well-known landmark, convenient for taxi drivers to recognise.
