Water Taxi to Fowey

If you have time to spare, why not take the ferry from Mevagissey to Fowey, and return. The Ferry runs throughout the year, and in the summer months there are up to 6 sailings a day, the most being from the middle of July until early September. The ferry operates from the Western breakwater (Lighthouse Quay), and the journey takes about 35 minutes.

Fares: Adult - single £6.00. Return £10.00. Child - single £3.00. Return £5.00. (As at Summer 2006). You purchase your ticket on board the ferry.

Bus or car?

Most visitors to Mevagissey will arrive by car. The town is not really large enough to accommodate modern day traffic, and you would be advised not to try and drive through it, unless you are passing through, on the coastal road.

On entering Mevagissey there is a large car park on the lefthand side, and only a few minutes' walk from the harbour. The car park does get full quite quickly in the summertime, so arrive early, or late! The fees are quite steep at £2.00 for 2 hours (other various rates apply). There is parking on the quayside, but it's very narrow and restricted. Personally, I'd rather park in the main car park. You will not be able to park anywhere else in the town, so don't go looking for spaces!!

There is public transport, from St Austell, and it seems to run at quite regular intervals.
