| The Famous Bridge over the Gourge |
The historic town of Ronda is situated in the province of Malaga, Southern Spain, in Andalusia. It is one of the most colourful and attractive of Spanish towns, and is situated high in the mountains of the Sierra de Ronda, and is a popular resort. The old Moorish town, built on a hilltop, is separated from the lower new town by a deep gourge of the Guadalevin River.
The population in 2003 is about 35,000. |
| | Ronda is one of the oldest towns in Spain, dating back to prehistoric times, and the Stone Age. However, the most striking aspect of the cultural heritage and its surroundings is Arabic. The town rose to importance as the capital of one of the five coras of Al-Andalus. This influence has impregnated the style of its buildings, food and agricultural practices, and many other traditions in the region. |
Ever heard of David Bedingfield? Well, he's a new-ish pop idol. He so loves Ronda that his new vider clip 'Never Gonna Leave', was filmed here. It's really great to see it on the TV (as well as (VT!!). | | |
