Everywhre you go in the touristic parts of the city you will find people, usually young, who will suddenly appear and try to sell you something you don't really want. I forgot my umberella when it was raining, and before I got anywhere near the Blue Mosque no less than 3 young children 'told' me that I needed to buy their umbrella! Then there are the guide book sellers, who flock around you, all trying to sell the same guide. But you can bargain with them. They will quote in Dollars, show you the price sticker on the item, which is probably 200% mark-up! Others will approach you, ask your nationality, and start chatting to you like a long lost friend. Then tell you that you really do need a guide! My advice is to say 'No Thank You', politely, and carry on walking. Don't stop and chat to them. I did not ever consider them a danger.
