It's NOT Joisey!

by KirstenL4W - last update: Sep 8, 2002

I have never heard a native pronounce it Joisey, the letter R is very much alive in New Jersey. And it really isn't all that bad a place. My mother grew up here, and her family is still here so I visit on a semi-regular basis, but I can't say that I have been to many of the tourist traps. I usually hop on a train and go to New York when I am there, since my uncle lives within walking distance of a NJ Transit station. But, for those of you who have never been here, I will try my best to build a page.

Hi: 1: go during the week as the crowds are less than 1/2 of what shows up on the weekends. 2-, go to a different beach during the day, such as Manasquan (much nicer beach), then hit Seaside when the sun goes down for the boardwalk and nightlife.

Thanks for your page on my home state. I appreciate you letting others know that we really don't pronounce it "Joisey"
