Stockholm, the capital of Sweden, is a must see city. It combines the sophistication of a modern city with the old-world charm of a smaller town. I visited in February, a season of frigidly cold temperatures that growing up in New England had not prepared me for, but I also avoided the crowds. I was lucky enough to stay with friends, which gave me some great tour guides from a locals perspective.
