Watch out for buskers and beggars on the Metro. It seems Paris has no restrictions on this (or at least poorly enforced) and nearly every train I was on had a busker. Some are creative but others just go along the aisle with their hands out. There was one who put on a particularly entertaining show with puppets, so I gave him money but in general you will give out a lot of money really fast if you dont watch out.

Watch out for Parisian drivers! I lived in Massachusetts and visit New Jersey on a regular basis, so I thought I had the bad driving thing down, but in Paris they seem to be on a mission to run down pedestrians (or at least kill them by heart attack). Even when pedestrians have a green light and drivers have a red, use extreme caution because the drivers can turn right on red, and they are very adept at using their horns to clear the road. Never ever cross against the signal and always use pedestrian subways when available.
