    • This accomodation is a 9-min walk from JR Kyoto Station. Cost: 2300yen/night for a dorm-style room. The cheapest I`ve seen for accomodation in Kyoto! Private Japanese-style rooms available for a higher cost. Very friendly English-speaking staff. You can also rent a bicycle if you want from them to ride around Kyoto.

    • A few of the temples in Kyoto allow visitors to stay overnight. I stayed at Gesshin-in Temple near Kiyomizu Temple. I don't recommend this temple stay to anyone (check out my warnings & danger page) but here's a list of other temple stays available in Kyoto:

     was supposed to go to kyoto and its surrounds last month but injured my foot (freak accident). will make it here by cherry blossom time next year i hope. excellent tips!
