"TO THE CITY OF TEMPLES, SHRINES AND CASTLES..." Kyoto by heywinks
Kyoto Travel Guide: 1,834 reviews and 5,753 photos
If you think that you can visit the old imperial city of Kyoto and stay just one day, you are mistaken. There is so much to see and experience in this beautiful city. There are hundreds of temples and shrines and old castles to visit. Even if you stay for one week you won`t see it all!
I`ve been to Kyoto dozens of times and each time I see something new. I`m pleasantly surprised by all the allys in the city--there is always something new to discover!
For those that will visit soon, I hope that your visit to Kyoto is a memorable one and I hope that you get to visit Kyoto many many times in your lifetime.
For those who have been there, I hope that my page will bring back many happy memories for you.
Happy travels!

LOVE your Kyoto page. We didn't see much of it when we went as baby got sick. Hopefully I will go back one day and see it properly. Tracey

Your page is great with lots of useful information. Best of luck with your travels.
This page deserves a VT award. It's one of the best that I've ever seen. One thing though: I LOVE Nijo Castle, maybe because it was so much like in the James Clavell book, "Shogun." Have you read it?
Lots of good tips. Thanks so much for sharing. Cheers!
It is a pity that you did not have a slightest idea that the attick room was so historical. That monk does not ware T-shirts and jeans is such a stereotype -- we true Buddhists know that. You'd enjoy more touristy places, I guess.
I stayed at the Gesshin-in Temple last year and didn't have any problems... but maybe that's because I mostly kept to myself and don't expect my host to make conversation. Well, whatever. Just thought I'd toss in my two cents. ;D
Very nice Kyoto page with great tips!!! Thanks!!! You should be my shopping guide as I don't know what to bring back to germany.. :)
