Casa Loma: Exploring Secret Passageways
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • CASA LOMA is a medieval castle, the former estate of industrialist and financier Sir Henry Pellatt. In this castle, you can find hidden secret passageways, underground tunnels leading to the stables, towers overlooking Toronto, and explore its acred garden.
The castle is vast and the rooms magnificent. Visit the billiards room, the library, the bedrooms suites, and the Great Hall with its 60 ft ceiling! The castle has 3 floors so it will keep you busy!
Tours are self-guided and available in 8 languages. An admission discount is available and can be sent to you before your trip to the castle. Go to the website for more information.

Bata Shoe Museum: Look at my feet!!!
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • The Bata Shoe Museum is filled w/ shoes from olden days till now. I`m a shoe fanatic and was ecstatic to discover this museum in Toronto! You can see shoes on display of Elton John, Michael Jordan, Elizabeth Taylor, and Picasso!!
You can look at exhibits concerning the history of shoes, shoe ethnology, and shoes from diff walks of life.
They always have new exhibits going on: the latest fashions in shoewear, diff shoe genres (weddings, sports, etc), and shoes from a particular country.
If you love shoes this is the perfect place to go!!!

I was just in Toronto and hoped to go to that shoe museum. Unforunately, I ran out of time...

I like the weapons museum of Casa Loma & the garden, but otherwise it's rather unremarkable, IMHO. Interestingly, Vienamese call sneakers "bata", presumably after Bata shoes, but the shoes we wore look nothing like these :) Did you like Chinatown?
