THE LAND OF THE RISING SUN

The National Flag
The first time I came to Japan was in 1996, as a student on Semester at Sea. It was my first time abroad in a foreign country (not including Canada). I was here for about a week & visited Kobe, Osaka, & Kyoto. I loved my visit here & after I graduated from University, I decided to work abroad. I chose to return to this beautiful country.
I love living in Japan. Everything`s a little smaller than in the US (clothing, apartments, food portions, household appliances, shops) but I got used to it. The food is wonderful here: sushi, sashimi, tempura, shabu shabu, sukiyaki, okonomiyaki, takoyaki, etc & the shopping divine!

AREAS OF JAPAN

Although this is a small country (377,873 square kilometers, a little smaller than California), there are many different areas of Japan made up of regions & prefectures.
Hokkaido: Hokkaido
Tohoku: Aomori Akita Yamagata Iwate Miyagi Fukushima
Kanto: Tochigi Gunma Ibaraki Chiba Saitama Tokyo Kanagawa
Koshinetsu: Yamanashi Nagano Niigata
Hokuriku: Toyama Ishikawa Fukui
Tokai: Gifu Shizuoka Aichi Mie
Kinki: Shiga Kyoto Osaka Hyogo Wakayama Nara
Chugoku: Tottori Shimane Okayama Hiroshima Yamaguchi
Shikoku: Tokushima Kagawa Ehime Kochi
Kyushu: Fukuoka Saga Nagasaki Kumamoto Kagoshima Miyazaki Oita Okinawa

I live in the Kinki area. *snicker snicker*
