Poland is an amazing country, full of history and culture. The Roman Catholic religion plays an important role in the life of many Polish people. (The Pope is from Poland, too.)
Everyone I met was helpful and kind. Hungarians and Poles have been friends for a long time (you can read more about it on Skeptic-jr's page) and we have a long common history.

Places to visit

Malbork castle

I visited Cracow, Auschwitz, Wieliczka, Kalwaria Zebrzydowska, Malbork, Torun and Warsaw and every place was fascinating in one way or other. Poland should be a much better known destination in Europe - however, it's quite good for today's travellers that even the greatest places are not too visited.

Pros and Cons

Pros:Great historic and cultural heritage, beautiful nature, friendly people
Cons:Just very small things like sometimes it's difficult to communicate in other languages but Polish
In a nutshell:Ideal cultural and natural destination

Another useful page Tamara I visited Krakow and went on to Zakopani a few years ago and had a great time trekking in the High Tatra's I also agree with you about Auschwitz and Birkenau - Both of them are Evil places - I hope to see more on this page soon
