Sleeping Beauty's Castle from Disneyland...this was the highlight of my trip to Germany!! Neuschwanstein from 1869 - 1886, Ludwig II once lived here at the Royal Castle.
Way back in the '70's my family and I walked up the long road leading to the castle. It was like being in a magical forest while we made our way to the castle entrance... teams of horse drawn-carts passed us with excited people in them... we all wanted to see this magnificent and enchanted place.
Even at 12 years of age I remember everyone was so friendly... I was horse mad and when we reached the top the horseman let me pat the carriage horses... I wondered if they understood Australian.
Inside the castle I walked around with my eyes popping out of my head... this little girl from North Queensland Australia just couldn't believe the beauty and paintings on the ceiling... the incredible furniture and awesome architecture... she can't wait to go back there one day... |
