Imagine a rich heritage with an exciting history just a short flight or cruise away. If you are in Australia and wanting an 'overseas' feel to an affordable island holiday, this could be the answer.

If this is your quest then visit Tasmainia... it really is refreshingly different... the aspect of this isle is so reminiscent of the UK and some Northern parts of Europe I think you'll be pleasently surprised!

A friend and I drove around the coast over the weekend staying in historic B & B's and a couple of great hotels.

We made it to Hobart and after indulging in a long, relaxed and sensational Thai meal in an authentic resturant, we discovered that they have movie sessions that start from mid-night and finish around 4am! After asking someone about it we were told that they cater for shiftworkers and night staff... we could also benefit from this as we didn't have to rush dinner!

What an excellent idea from such a tiny place. I'm not sure if Australia has 'cottoned on' to this wonderful forethought yet, but I'm sure they will!
