Fremantle: Visit Rottnest Island

  • Favorite Thing: Visit Rottnest Island... you can get around on bikes or walk... there are no cars just people powered vehicles. Crystal blue ocean surrounds this small island.

Scuba diving, surfing, snokeling and sailing are some of the things you can find yourself getting the urge to try at this magical little place.

Great resturants and accommodation are ready to serve you if you can't leave the unique wildlife and island lifestyle that insists on you relaxing leaving your worldly cares behind on the mainland.

Follow this link for a great site to find out more about Rottnest Island only 20 minutes by Island Supercat from the Fremantle Habour near Perth Western Australia.

Fondest Memory: Watching the sunset over the ocean from the white sandy beaches and secluded bays at Rottnest Island. Little Parokeet Bay is my favourite.

There's nothing like sharing good times with friends in an environment like this.

  • Favorite Thing: What brought him his fame?

In 2001 Jamie received the Logie for Most Popular New Male Talent and Backyard Blitz won the Logie for Most Popular Lifestyle for two successive years in 2001 and 2002.

Jamie, originally from Manly in Sydney, spent much of his childhood in the mining town of Tom Price in north Western Australia before moving to the Gold Coast where he completed high school.

He spent the next eight years travelling and working overseas in Europe, Asia and the United States where he had a successful modelling career.

Jamie is an accomplished gymnast who has performed in cabaret shows as an acrobat and trapeze artist and with the troupe Manpower which he also managed between 1990 and 1996.

Between 1994 and 1996, Jamie trained with some of the cast of Cirque du Soleil in Las Vegas and mastered a specialised trapeze movement, the Russian flying act.

In 2001 Jamie relished the chance to again explore the world of Cirque du Soleil and hosted the one-hour special Cirque du Soleil – Alegría for the Nine Network.

Jamie featured in James Houston’s photographic art book, Raw, which was shot on location throughout the United States. He has also appeared in commercials and twice been a Cleo bachelor.

His television credits include hosting Dig This, a series of short gardening programs for Foxtel, and One West Waikiki, from the maker of Magnum PI, Glen A. Larson, in which he appeared alongside Cheryl Ladd.

On returning to Sydney in 1997 Jamie established a landscape design business, Patio, which provides landscape design for commercial and domestic gardens in Australia and internationally, with clients in the United States and Hong Kong.

Jamie has completed a four-year Associate Diploma in Landscape Design from Ryde Horticultural College.

Fondest Memory: Fondest memory would be when my daughter and I met up with him at the Burswood Spring Home Expo 2003.

Interesting local customs in Perth. . . ((-: I like the way you show your city Gwynneth, but the sunsets are not a danger for me. . I will sleep on the beach! If the food is good, restaurants with great view: PERFECT! Nice page and info Gwynneth, thanks.

Congratulations, Gwynneth, this is the best thing I've found. My husband always leaves the lid up and I hate it! Thanks a lot, Ana
