| Margaret River - Vineyard |
Passion makes it happen. Discover what Perth is really about... its not a bustling city with traffic jams nor is it made up of throngs of people pushing and shoving you at will... its more a centre point for the entire state of Western Australia. A base to work from and return to. So if you really want to enjoy all that Western Australia has to offer... get out of your hotel room; hire a car, book a coach tour or get your hands on a FREE copy of 'What's On In Perth' (you'll find that in your hotel lobby and News Agents) and find out what gives Perth its heartbeat. Discover Margaret River for world renown Wine, Surf and Art. Give your self a 'heart starter' Rally Driving. Visit Rottnest our local island only 20 minutes from Port Fremantle. There's no traffic at all there just bikes and a free local bus. Or for a life changing, mind blowing adventure dive with the whale sharks on Ningaloo Reef. Indugle in the local cuisine and talk over your adventures with new found friends in of Perth's well known Restaurants. Life truly is what you make it. Travel is the bonus you get from living the good life. |
| 'Bluey' Bob Tailed Goanna |
Reptiles in the garden This is 'Bluey' a Bob Tailed Goanna, the Aboriginal name of which is "Youan" or "Uan" he's a beautiful harmless stumpy lizard that lives in our garden and protects our yard from snakes by eating their eggs... he also steals food from the dog's and cat's bowl! He's a great snail, slug and caterpillar catcher too! Australia has six species of blue-tongued lizards (goanna) and the Bob Tail is one of them. They love to sleep in rockeries, horizontal pipes and the cavities under houses. A sunny path or lawn is where they prefer to sunbake and warm up after a cold night and cool morning. 'Bluey' (in the picture) used to sleep near our bull terrier 'Tara' she used to try to lick him but he didn't like that very much and 'Bluey' would hiss and back off from her which, of course, only made her more curious. She never hurt him though. 'Bluey' has out lived 'Tara' and has been in the garden for over 13 years now. |
