Just another heaven
I went to Beijing in March 1998 during which I decided to be like an artist by bringing with me two sketch books and 2 italic pens instead of one camera. I did 30+ pieces of sketches along the way with the most memorable one in Chengde at -4 Celsius. Hand was almost frozen at one time. I put fingers into my mouth to get warm so that able to continue. Drawing on the spot is a complete dissimilar sensation. The happiness is that I can recall the feeling of my fingers and eyes, particularly during that moment.
First impression
Wow full of bicycles was my first impression of Beijing. They must be so healthy since they cycle so much. Roads are colossal in size. Visitors have to walk many times in distance so I guess, no overweight peoples yet very healthy.
Some of my memories
A woman told me that some Beijingese are unlike other Chinese because of their ancestral relationship with the Imperial. Right after the collapse of Imperialism, peoples can do nothing but only relying on selling their valuable possessions for living.
Another local woman told me about her long hair. Men in Beijing prefer to see girls in long hairs, so now she has long hairs. Another story happened at the doorway of the Beijing roasted duck restaurant. Two young guards played acting to cheat our coins. What they did was requesting a glance at foreign coins, as I put those coins onto their palm, that’s it.
Jiao Zhi
By unintentionally we found a restaurant inside an alley nearby Kempinsky hotel. Delicious 'Jiao Zhi' is here.
Panda watching
National Zoo has Pandas, don’t forget. They are extremely cute yet slow-moving animal.
My first trip after near 20 years
20 years is long enough since the first flight at age 6 to Hong Kong until 1998 when I decided to fly to Beijing with friends.
The photo is an old man playing Er-hu, somewhere in the palace of summer if I not mistaken. Street musics are popular and street dancing in the morning too. Street dancing at night as well, I saw it at a street where aging peoples in vibrant outfits performing street dancing.
Medicine
Your bus driver will definitely send you to shops that sell Chinese medicines, don’t worry. I bought a bottle of skin-medicine RMB150.

You can not write Chinese camel, because these camels are from Mongolia. Mongolian camels you could see in the zoo in many countries.
