Koo-Er-Lerh is the actual pronunciation of this city. I did not trace the origin of this word Korla, there are some websites you can find out. I read that Marco Pola was here and many attractions around. The city centre of Korla is surprisingly huge in size, almost a Singapore with many high rise buildings and peoples.

Thanks for such a wonderful page. I enjoyed reading your adventure on the Silk Road and hope that one day I can do the same. In the meantime, I guess I can only do it on Google Earth. Korla must have been an interesting place to visit.

A fascinating page on a city I had never heard of ! I would never have expected such a large and modern city. I am surprised by the nude kids. I thought that going nude was not in the Chinese tradition.
