Our mini truck hitchhiked from the roadside brought us to many unknown places and villages, Opal is one I found in VT-locations. Many cars trucks etc driving along the Karakoram Highway needed some extra incomes for fuel, we hitchhikers are actually part of their incomes. What they did or what we did was to beckon whoever drove on the road and talk price, that's how I came to Opal. |
| | The truck driver stopped here to rest and lunch, also to get passengers. We were here eating a bowl of big noodles of beef and green pepper 3.50yuan each. The restaurant was Uyghur Islamic. In the photo shows a man walking with tall white hat, he is a Khirgiz (Krygyz). I knew because I was staying with a family also wearing the same hat unless somebody disguised to be this way. |
| | Opal street has not much different a street full of pedestrians as in this one. Women as usual are covering part of their head with scarf, some with the big brown cloth and some cover nothing, I meant covered nothing on their head. They are very beautiful peoples and strong, very Turkish in look I guessed. |

Guantanamera Sat Dec 4, 2004 05:21 UTC That's how we had to arrange transport in Bali too -- rather informal...! 3.5 yuan seems a very good price for that lunch! | MissyWQ Fri Jul 30, 2004 19:01 UTC Here's a city I can pronounce. You sure do get around. |
