The name of this UNESCO World Heritage site is very long - "the Temple and Cemetery of Confucius and the Kong Family Mansion in Qufu". The town center of Qufu looks completely new built, our taxi driver asked "where you want to go, to Qufu town center or to the tourists street?" We decided to stay closer to the Confucius Temple, taxi driver replied "ok..." Taxi driver sent us to a hotel right next to the entrance of the Confucius Temple, it is only about 50 meters of distance. Walking out of our hotel is the main road of Qufu, the road is huge and with lots of electric-bike shops, Confucius liquor factories, Confucius shops, Confucius quotings, Confucius products and many more .

I suddenly realized that Qufu is a town relying heavily on tourism.

What special about this site is the Cemetery of Confucius, it is a non-intermittent family lineage (Paternalism) of the family of Confucius, starting from the teacher himself 2500 years ago continue all the way until today, total of 76 generations. With all family members of Confucius buried inside the Cemetery of Confucius. While at the grave of Confucius, a kiosk selling funeral flowers, RMB150 a pack, followers of Confucianism and his 'die-hard fans' would kneel down paying absolute respect to him, you must see this to believe.

Entering this site: 3 tickets cost RMB150, go in early morning, be prepared a full day of long walk the place is huge, roughly 100 football fields in size.

I came to Qufu by an overnight Sleeper-Bus from Hangzhou, the bus final destination is Jining of Shandong, passengers need to inform drivers to getting off at Qufu, a total 14 hours of travel. The bus is also delaying so much for taking in extra passengers along the way, wasted some 2 hours. The next morning the bus dropped me off 2km outside the town of Qufu at the roadside of an unknown highway, in early morning, I had to 'settle' at the roadside and then grab a taxi.

Hotel is hopelessly abundant, the one I stayed costonly RMB159 with high-speed internet attached. Restaurants and grocery stores too are countless around the tourist area. Accrossing the main road is where tourists seldom step into."
