Yangcun (Yang village) is really an interesting remote village, it is a typical village shown in the movie of top Chinese filmmaker Zhang Yimou. There is a Hakka house to see and so we took a public bus some 40 minutes from Longnan town center, passing through an undeveloped road, nice village view, one of the most impressive architectures around.

Hakka houses are famous for its 'castle shape', they built high walls as protection and there are holes on the walls, purpose to attack enemies, and then some of the walls were glutinous rice mixed with black sugar and soil, so that it can be eaten when wars occured...that's what I heard from an old Hakka man.
