Pasar Malam (Night Market)
I still have no idea yet where did the name Cheras come from but I know there was a King Cheras of BC 3-4th century of whom is an Indian King. The road Cheras is probably the longest of all in the city of Muddy Estuary. Cheras is big, too big for a page for it has up to hundred small residential areas and many more districts such as Taman Maluri, Taman Segar, Taman Midah, Taman Connaught, Bandar Tun Razak, Kampung Cheras baru, Taman Cheras, Kampung Baru Cheras, Cheras Jaya, Cheras Perdana and many more. If you want to explore Cheras area, I would say good luck. The road Cheras is directly link to Pudu road which means if you drive on the Pudu road until the junction of Jalan Tun Razak, the name switch automatically to Jalan Cheras and all the way to Kajang town. And whatever you saw on the road are part of Cheras areas.
Miss Yip's Big Pau
Photo on top is one of my Pasar Malam collection and the photo here is taken from Taman Connaught's street vendor that sells Miss Yip's Big Pau. Pau is one of our daily foods in Malaysia especially in Kuala Lumpur. It is actually Chinese Meat Bun but almost quadruple in size which is very big. Good for lunch especially delicious to eat with Chinese hot tea. Who is Miss Yip then? She is one of the famous Hong Kong movie stars in the early 90s whom as the proud owner of her large breasts. Over here, our Malaysian fans named the big bun using her name as free advertisement. Somehow the big bun became our Malaysian creation and quite success as well.
Leisure Mall
Probably Cheras areas' biggest shopping mall is this multicolor construction called Leisure Mall. The location is Taman Segar and this Mall is located just beside the main road of Cheras, so it is quite easy for visitors to get there. This Leisure Mall has numerous international chain stores such as McDonald's, Swensens, Sushi King, Kenny Roger's Chicken, etc. While local chain stores have Ayamas, Chicken Rice shop, Esquire Kitchen and many others. At the second floor, you have cineplex, computer shops snd many more women shops that sells fashionable clothings. At the ground floor, Giant supermarket.
