Alor Gajah is a town, an old town with name derived from Gajah (elephant), is believed the elephant in white leading a group of elephants walking along the stream, thus got the name. In the history, Alor Gajah was first inhabited by Minangkabau settlers, they migrated from west of Sumatra (Indonesia) in 12th century, later Orang Melayu Parameswara 15th century came and both Melayu and Minagkabau became Alor Gajahans.
