How to get there
I preferred coming from the other end which is through Jalan Enggang or Jalan Ampang. So I will show you the way from Jalan Ampang. You start from the Petronas Twin Towers and take the Ampang road which is very congest all the time until you see the Jelatek road sign at your left and turn accordingly. Drive about 400 meters turn left again to Datuk Keramat road. Another good option is to take the LRT of Putra which is as what the main photo showed.
If you want to visit a Malay village, there’s a Kampung Bumiputra just before the Datuk Keramat road on your left, you can park your car beside the road and pay a visit to the small village, a nice one.
Kampung Datuk Keramat or Dato Keramat both are same but somehow the spelling itself has diverse ways. The area is mostly residential of Malay Muslims and is quite big as well. So make sure you have enough time for photography probably half day or one whole day.
The other end of the road is Jalan Gurney. If you don’t want to come from Jalan Ampang, you can start from Jalan Gurney off the main road of Jalan Tun Razak. The location is nearby the National Library and Jalan Yap Kwan Seng but I seldom go from there.
If you come from Jalan Gurney, you can see a big gap of difference between wealthy and poverty in just a distance of one single road of Jalan Gurney. Somewhere in the middle of the road of Gurney, you can notice very obviously at one side where poverty shanties can be seen and then you turn your head to the right, you can see huge wealthy bungalows. The photo I took here is from the poverty side of Jalan Gurney, so make sure you visit Kampung Datuk Keramat when you are in Kuala Lumpur.
This is the bustling area in the town centre. The road is quite congest and narrow, so park your car and then take a walk around the areas to snap yours version of Datuk Keramat.
Town has almost everything you needed from restaurants to computer shop and wet market to motorcycles repairing workshop.
After Datuk Keramat, you can also try the Jalan Enggang which is across the highway of Jalan Jelatek. Enggang is also Malays residential area but many parts already developed for industrial usage such as Texas Instrument. If you want to see the river of Kelang, the river along those factories is Kelang River where many river dwellers used to build their shanty around somehow after the completion of Ulu Kelang highway, most were gone.
