Kuala Lumpur Transportation

Transportation: Motorcycles
  • Tip Rating:
  • 'Mode': AROUND
    Category: Motorcycle
Getting TO/AROUND: Motorcycling is so far the best to explore the city meantime needless to pay road tolls also, needless to enjoy the heavy traffic jams. If you can ride a motorcycle, you can enjoy most of the unseen places of the city. The problem is to rent a motorcycle is not easy, you have to ask the motor shop yourself and arrange with them or you rent a small scooter from your hotel attendants, since you stay with them, they can trust you, probably you can pay them RM50 a day.

Extra tips: If you like street racing, every Saturday night in front of The Mall and midnight in front of Merdeka Square, you can enjoy watching our local boys performing illegal street racings. It's not something like World 500cc but more to local village racing. Most of them are youngsters dressing up like Arnold Schwazeneeger with black leather jacket but riding a 150cc bike with funny riding skills, but hey it's our local bike culture. They have their dream to become world champ. That's only if you like motorcycles, I don't force you to ride motorcycles.

Important: Please remember to lock your bike or car.

    Transportation: Our Proton TAXI
  • Tip Rating:
  • 'Mode': AROUND
    Category: Other
Getting TO/AROUND: Teksi or Taxi. Taxi is another good transportation in Kuala Lumpur. They charge according to meter around RM6 to RM10 in within 10km drives.

Taxi drivers like to tell dirty stories to tourists, so just enjoy. Once I came across a taxi driver who can really tell dirty jokes over and over, I just couldn't stop laughing.

Taxi drivers very patriotic too, why? because they only drive local Malaysian made Proton cars.

Getting TO/AROUND: LRT is one of the best to get around in KL. LRT-Light Railway Transit, cost RM1.80 per trip in Kuala Lumpur city. Easy and convenience. This is a good transport map of LRT Kuala Lumpur.

http://www.putra.com.my/index.asp The PUTRA-LRT network has 24 stations (5 stations underground). Another LRT is STAR-LRT and Kommuter. Try also this website

    Transportation: Rent Cars
  • Tip Rating:
  • 'Mode': AROUND
    Category: Car/Motor Home
Getting TO/AROUND: Private cars are good though you have to pay endless tolls. Excuse me, I certainly understand each driver should help to pay highway maintenance but sometimes we hate to queue that long just to pay a Ringgit.

Wanna rent a car, try some websites below:

    Transportation: Inner City Bus
  • Tip Rating:
  • 'Mode': AROUND
    Category: Bus
Getting TO/AROUND: Passengers must get ready coins before you get onto these buses. Normal rates around RM1 to take you anywhere in within the city. Very convenience, most buses are equipped with air-con. If you don't know what numbers of buses, you can simply look for a bus driver and you ask he/she which bus to take to which destination, they should be able to help tourists. If you don't want to ask, you still can look for the bus route map at where the bus stops. For further details of roads coverage, try the website below.

Just try it, super cheap. Flying to almost all South East Asia cities. The cost of air fares from Kuala Lumpur to Penang is around RM10.00 about 3 US Dollars only, you can do online booking on the website, best to book 2 month before the date to get the best price.

Getting TO/AROUND: Walking is a must and should make full use of it, otherwise one day our legs will devolve. Make sure you walk a lot or if you can, try to run a lot, so that you can stay young and travel to more places with your strong legs. This tip also has a website, try this one at bottom.
