Kuala Lumpur Hotel Tips by l_joo

For backpackers and low budget tourists, I hope this is what you want. You can find it at Petaling street Chinatown, Puduraya areas, etc. They are cheap, very cheap, cost around RM5-10 Dormitory and RM 15, RM20, RM30, but don't ask me the condition because I am a local people, I never spend a night in any hotel locally. But don't worry, they are very cheap, you can stay up to months. Picture is cheap accomodation at Chinatown.

KL is a big city, everybody has to compete to earn money, don't believe peoples telling you 'rooms are fully booked', no such thing sir, never had such things. There are so many places to stay in this city from cheapest to super luxurious, anything you want. I am a low budget tourists, I try to recommend something quite near my way of stay for tourists, hopefully my tips help.

If you know how to get to Puduraya bus station which is the main bus station of Kuala Lumpur next to Chinatown, I want to tell you how to walk there in just 5 minutes.

From the location where many peoples waiting for buses which is the corner where the 7-Eleven located. Walk up that road, that road is all year long in chaos condition due to over crowded and too many tourists, also it has a Hindu temple where many Indian peoples come for praying. When you see the Hindu temple, turn to your right and keep walking until you see in less than 100 meters has 3 to 4 budget Inns. That is the place where backpackers stay. Room rates mostly around RM30 ringgits.

Directions: All in Kuala Lumpur

Located at Kampung Attap, 15 minutes slow walk from the back of Chinatown. Start walking from Nanyang Art shop (Jalan Petaling) toward Bulatan Merdeka (Jalan Maharajarela). Cross the heavy traffic roads underneath the monorail. You can see a small police station in front of you, keep walking until you see Kampung Attap road. The IYH is just nearby but the building is hidden behind, try to ask local peoples. I have been there many times and also to get my IYH Card done.

Green Hut RM30.00 located behind Jalan Alor, opposite BB Plaza of Bukit Bintang. Many tourists there and the area has more than just one guesthouse, definitely a good place to stay and easy to go for shopping and eating at Jalan Alor at night.

This location is quite a distance away from bustling Chinatown, Bukit Bintang and Chow Kit areas. Its about 20 minutes by taxi and is not low budget, quite expensive, 5 stars. To stay here is perhaps sutable for peoples who wants to go to Bangsar for nightlife and also shopping. Taxi from Mid Valley to Bangsar is just about 10 minutes or less. There's a hotel named Cititel here in the Megamall, standard room cost about RM150.00.

Most peoples never consider this location, to me, this location is so nice, it has so many hotels of low budget and mid range. Visitors come to this location are mostly Muslims tourists. I have been to this location so many times and I saw so many tourists and so many hotels. Picture is a hotel Grand Paradise right in the middle of Little India district. Touristscan definitely try this place the next time coming to Kuala Lumpur.

Around Chow Kit has so many low budget hotels, the location is at Jalan Raja Laut or at Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman, both has many hotels. You can click this map of yahoo to look for the location Jalan Raja Laut and Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman of Chow Kit. This location is less tourists but plenty of hotels, most tourists prefer Chinatown and Bukit Bintang.

RM25.00 to RM50.00 is the price. The location is opposite Puduraya station (next to Chinatown). Opposite Puduraya Station has a 7-Eleven a the corner very obvious. Walk to 7-Eleven and walk again up the road where you can see so many Indian peoples praying at the cornet temple. Walk to towards the Indian temple and turn right, you will see a big smelly dustbin. Walk again about 50 steps, you can see a blue color signboard somewhere in front of you - Kameleon Travellers Lodge. On this road, you have more than one Kameleon but 2 or 3 more budget hotels.
