The top photo is taken at the old town area which is right in the middle of Temerluh. The building is actually an old hotel with many stalls and a barber shop. Crossing the road is the new big shopping complex and many new constructions including the Police station, banks, shops, restaurants and even Temerluh court and garden, etc.

How to get there
Temerluh is very easy because it is halfway in between Kuala Lumpur and East coast Kuantan. The biggest inconvenience or perhaps 'disturbances' are the two big highway tolls that always caused unneccessary big jams. The road is beautiful where vehicles drive constantly at 90kph but suddenly jammed for 45 minutes at the first road tolls and again another 1 hour at the second, all at the Karak Highway. Therefore any of you who plan to drive there on private vehicles, please try to avoid weekends or holidays.

1st-4th of May 2004 I drove to the East coast of Peninsular to visit many places including Kampung Mercang, Rantau Abang beach, Kampung Kijal, Cukai, Kuantan and last day in Temerluh the town of Patin fish. Temerluh is located in within Teris river and Pahang river, is a natural wonderland for the Patin fishes and also others to live. Along the river which was parelleled with the main road, anglers and villagers were busy displaying their fresh Ikan Patin on the rack to sell. In the town as well has many restaurant specialised in cooking Ikan Patin.

Ban Hin Hotel and Coffee Shop is located in the old town, a place suitable for small town shoppings and perhaps hanging around to taste Temerluhan Coffee and also enjoying people watching or street watching. Budget tourists should come to explore this Patin fish town by bus or by private vehicles both as convenience and to look for a room is so easy. The Temerluh Rest House charge a mere RM59 with air-con, big bathroom attached, one king sized bed and one single, 3 tables, 3 chairs, huge windows with lawn and free parking just outside the room and with Astro TV plus a small fridge. Make sure you try the Ikan Patin at night but be prepared to pay RM34 for only half the fish. Taste absolutely delicious but pricey.
