Parameswara, while fleeing, arrived at the river mouth of BP (Bandar Penggaram), but shiit, history did not record the fact that he actually rested 2 days here before moving on to Muar. You know lah, those days, the mainstream media censored anything. |
| | Bandar Penggaram means Salt Town/City. Parameswara saw hundreds of salt traders at BP, he decided to look for a better place to start anew, he went to Malacca. BP is old enough. The old market is historical. BP is a real hisorical town without much retouch. Ask the old Indian muslim traders in the market, if you want proof. Or ask the 'penghulu' in Minyak Beku. |
| | My old BP page Batu Pahat means to carve rock. The name was probably derived from the early days when peoples carving rocks to make a living. That was the explanation given to me by a local Batu Pahatian friend. BP is a mid-sized town of Johor state. Batu Pahat is pronounced as Baa-too Paa-hart. The town has 2 prominent larger size shopping malls where most BPs hanging around including myself. As usual McDonald's and Kentucky Fried Chickens and many other chain stores plus shops and banks and offices. I have been to BP many times since early 90's and what I saw was very Chinese especialy the town centre. Shopping malls mostly selling women's products and eating. A friend in BP always bring me to cheap eating places to taste the best BP foods and they were definitely delicious yet cheap if compare to Kuala Lumpur. I particularly love the roast-pork but couldn't recall the restaurant name, it was a small restaurant very old looking where if you go late, you eat nothing. The food is definitely non-halal but the taste is beyond words. BP is also famous for its garment and knitting works. |
