Hi and hello,
It has been quite a long while that I have stopped creating new VT pages, three reasons, Malaysia's broadband internet too slow and the other reason is that I have no extra cash and time to do long travel in recent years.
I afraid to tell you that "Malaysia's broadband internet too slow" is soon going to become a national pride. Our is the 1Megabyte speed.
Our top most popular national internet provider charged users RM88+26, the cost is equal to 10 Big Macs of McDonald's.
I am having no patience to wait 30+ seconds for my computer to load just only a single VT page. Sometimes it took 30-50 seconds to upload a single photo, another 30 seconds for "Return to editing", and also, most of the time the page building halted halfway without save, all typings gone, error message came out.
Playing VT is becoming more and more irritating for me, I was told that unless I pay triple or quadruple to upgrade the speed.
Daytime is almost impossible to play VT, the speed is even slower.
Now I mostly only login once or twice per month to read some of the more interesting postings of the Miscelleneous Forum.
The third reason is that Malaysia hired large numbers of internet police to monitor bloggers, VT included. In recent years, numerous bloggers got arrested for exposing the truth of corruption of certain politicians. Disguising as "Real Travellers", they came here to work and to also embellish and beautify the ugly truth of a place universally recognize for her infamous "Thid World Mentality".
Remind me of the 2006 award wining German movie called The Lives of Others.
Malaysia's Internet Too Slow - part 2 Now you have already know that our internet speed is so slow, ok, for this special reason, talking logic, it creates job opportunity for "despatch boys cum Mat Rempit", because the man riding on a small motorcycle can reach the client's office faster than our internet. Ok, let me tell you what, our Adobe.pdf files could not get through via email. Downloading a short low quality movie clip (200mb) took us 3 hours.
Ok, since we Malaysia are aiming to achieve the VISION 2020 which is to become as advance country as any of those in the First-World, then please feel free to voice out your dissatisfaction about Malaysia's broadband internet too slow but please, voicing out is ok but never never make comparison, especially comparing the internet speed with other countries such as Singapore or Korea or whoever where 100 Mbps cost the same as 1 Mbps in Malaysia. Why not sir? Because the moment you made comparison with other countries on internet speed, a group of people that think that they are more patriotic than you, and of course those internet polices, will reply to you "Why not you migrate to Singapore or Korea?"

Ok, I have learned so much over the years especially on "The secret of living happily in Malaysia", now, I know for sure that if I too speak the same language, then, I will be a happy man living in Malaysia.
So, let's speak it out loudly, "Fcuk you, get out of Malaysia if you don't like it!" Yes, other stupid countries are so stupid to build internet speed that fast, fcuk them. "We want to achieve First-World with slow internet speed, what the fcuk, is it not ok? Are you not happy?"

Pilgrimage to Old Trafford On the slow 8-hour boat to Luang Prabang, Laos, I shot hundreds of free digital photos and I also chitchat to many tourists from around the world. There are about 60-80 tourists in the boat and all are backpackers, most of them are Europeans, only 2 Japanese and 2 Malaysian, that's my father. Btw, let me introduce to you about my father, my father studied less than 2 years of primary school back then in the Republic China in the 1940s, needless to say, the school that he went to did not teach English, so he could not speak the language. Until today he still never dare open up his mouth to speak in English, that makes it extremely difficult for all of us in the family because we were educated in Malaysia, under the British colonial education system. We went through a long period of cultural conversations to finally able to understand each others. Anyway I brought him to Laos, backpack, at the age of near 80. I explained to him that this is a river that we want to travel for more than 8 hours blah blah blah, and he said OK. I gave him a digital camera so that he can shoot anything he wants. He is very happy looking around and very excited to see new things, especially looking at tourists. He wanted to speak to them but he could not, he only waits for my translation. European tourists like to drink beer and some like to smoke grass. Talking as loud as thunder when they get Hi, my father asked me what did they do over there? I said they just want to have fun in Laos, my father said "oh then, go ahead, join them." I joined them playing cards, smoking grass and drink beer but I could only afford one beer because Malaysia currency is weak, not as powerful as the British Pound or Euros. Smoking grass is free because they would not mind sharing grass with strangers. Sitting close to me are some youngster Brits and a late 20 German, one of them started talking football (soccer), supposedly an interesting topic but I said to myself "Shhit! This is not the kind of topic a Malaysian can speak about". The German guy speak proudly about how good his hometown football team is, VFB Stuttgart, the champion of Bundesliga 2007. The Brit guy told me that he is actually a football man and he had visited some Malaysian football stadiums and he said his supported team is Charlton Athletic FC. Both of them talk about World cup, UEFA Champions League and this and that and suddenly they saw me sitting quietly, the Brit asked me a question "erm....so how is Malaysian football, tell us about Malaysian football?" “Oh no, what to say now!” Malaysia please help me! Imagine if you are in my situation, what do you want to speak about Malaysian football? Malaysia is ranked 163 in the FIFA World Rankings and each year we are inviting teams like ManU Chelsea Liverpool to come over to humiliate our National Team 6:0 for fun, how would you expect me to speak about Malaysian football? However, I managed to answer them, I said “Ok, do you really want to know what has happened to our Malaysia football?” They replied “Oh yeah” I told them everything honestly without lie and then I told them that we Malaysian are very shameful of our football but we cannot do anything about it because it was controlled by “them” and their cronies. I then told them that we Malaysian are actually idolizing their country’s football, especially the English Premiership Football. Teams like ManU, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal are something as important as God and we fight furiously (verbally) among each others when we watched ManU vs Chelsea. We did this because we want to idolize you.

National news, Malaysia has something proud, something that ranked #1 in the world !! http://www.nst.com.my/Current_News/nst/Fri...icle/index_html (taken from Malaysia's top selling newspaper) Malaysia has the most number of fat people in the Asean region. In fact, the number of fat people here exceeds that in many developed countries, including Germany and France.
In the last 10 years, the number of fat people has more than doubled, resulting in more Malaysians falling ill and diseases such as hypertension and diabetes shooting up.
A survey shows that 54 per cent of the adult population is either obese or overweight. Ten years ago, it was only 24.1 per cent.
The MySoN (Malaysian Shape of the Nation) survey also shows that 48 per cent of Malaysian men and 62 per cent of Malaysian women are fat. Million thanks to the LOW COST THIRD WORLD CONDENSED MILK, LOW COST THIRD WORLD SUPER CHEAP JUNK FOODS, THIRD WORLD ASIAN VALUED EDUCATION, THIRD WORLD MENTALITY, CORRUPTIONS & many many more. Those who are interested and care about Malaysia, please read my Malaysia has the most number of fat people - part 2coming soon.....

Do you know that Malaysia and Singapore were once a same country back in the early 1960s. In the year 1965, due to political arguments, Singapore became independent.
Back then, the currency of Singapore and Malaysia was, 1 Singapore Dollar to 1 Malaysia Dollar, equally valuable.
In year 2009, Malaysia money is 2.5 times less valuable than Singapore. (Ok, now, quick, especially you internet polices, quickly go to report me for telling the ugly truth causing Malaysia lose face. Extra merit: Reporting ugly truth can make you a patriotic Malaysian.)
Before Year 1965 ------------- 1 SGD (Singapore Dollars) = 1 MYR (Malaysia Ringgits)
After Year 2009 ------------- 1 SGD (Singapore Dollars) = 2.44418 MYR (Malaysia Ringgits) * Currency converted by www.xe.com
Today, Singapore is ranked top 4 in the world by http://www.transparency.org/news_room/in_focus/2008/cpi2008/cpi_2008_table ….and my country Malaysia is at #47.
Internet-police@patriotic-Malaysian is going to say “Fcuk you, go live in Singapore!” or “Singapore is small country, they are much easier than Malaysia!”
After independence, Singapore wanted to build up a strong economy. In education, they put English as important subject to learn to gain knowledge.
In Malaysia, English is only for the rich and elite. The majority lower income group can speak national language to spread the spirit of patriotism & nationalism.

“Apa Nama” and “The Boys” Yes, in Malaysia, thanks to our education policy (the last 30 years). Today, we have established a popular culture among us, very popular, I call it APA NAMA Culture. What is that, sir? Similar to Hindu Caste. Like this, the rich and the elite, they can afford educating their children in UK,US and Oz. These children came home with exotic expensive certificate, speak foreign-accented English, they are to be perceived as more talented than those who only study at local schools in Malaysia, especially those who speak broken English. At work, the English-speaking Malaysian will soon become your boss. At important meetings, English speaking employees will be selected to make final decision, whether they can work or cannot work, it doesn't matter. As long as they can speak English, preferably American accent. Ok, for those employees who speak broken English, they will be placed at the lowest level at work. They earn the lowest salary. They will be treated almost like untouchable of Hindu Caste. Do not even mention their name. Call them “Apa Nama” will do. In private firms, “Apa Nama” is to refer to people at the lowest level. Need not mention their names, or deliberately forget their names, pretend you have already forgotten their names. Apa Nama is also the secret of getting promotion. The other option is “The boys”. A term similar to “Apa Nama”. You can use it. (Cantonese: Ah Ping Kor) Eh, come on, these peoples know nothing about labor law or human rights, bully them, it is Ok. This is called Third World Mentality. ** note: (in English: APA NAMA means....errr, what is that person's name?) So, VTERs, you see, Malaysia is great, each of us donate money to your schools, especially UK US & Oz, an average US$100,000 each student, the money went into your University. Over here, we want only the rich and elite to speak English. The rest are the APA NAMAs, they will reamin as stupid as possible, so that they cannot ask questions. LESSON 1:Let me give you an idea on how APA NAMA works. You are from one of the UK US Oz University, you are at work, today your boss call you: "Hey Jimmy, I want it done on Tuesday!", you reply OK boss and then, in less than 5 seconds, you turn your head over, and you shout "Errrr.....APA NAMA....I want it done on Tuesday!" or "Errr....APA NAMA....get the boys to finish up before Tuesday!" |
