Hello All,
This is the first installment of my travlogue to Japan. Pls bear wif all the bad spellig and typos, internet is expensive here and the keyboard is japanese..go figger.. damn, cant even make my usual smiley sign..
Anyways, my trip so far...
Flight from SIN KUL went snothly.. takeoff and landing were punctual. MH 658 is a damned small plane tho... seating is only 3seats/aisle/3seats. Talk about crammed!
My flight from KUL OSA was half an hour late. But at least there was more leg space. seating is 2/aisle/4/aisle/2 on that Airbus.
Arrived at OSA, airport is very cheerless and utilitarian. No plants no decor of any kind. In fact, if you follow the signs in the airport like we did, you will miss the duty free shop completely! (like we did..heh) However, after check out at the airport, we went to the info counter. Girl there was helpful and informative,. Thank gods she speaks english. Oh, and she's kinda cute too...
Took a limousine bus to Nara JR station. 95 minutes ride. its a 40 seater with plenty of space, at least for a short fut like me. anywayz, its quite impressive, cos all buses leave punctually on the dot. We left our bags at the JR train station. Lockers there cost bet 300-600 yen. Went down to the deer park and visited Nara in general.Deer feed can be bought at 150 yen per stack of biscuits. Beware though, the deer never go towards the vendor for food, but they will crowd towards you when they see u buying their food!
People food ard here can range between 550 - 900 yen.
The tourism center at Nara provides a unique service. It has student helpers who want to improve their English. They will volunteer to act as tour guides to foreigners FOR FREE. Thus, tourists have de facto translators as well.
However, this service must be booked in advance.
