Diskotheks in Vienna are super popular among young adults, especially during the colder months. Vienna's electronic scene is massive! Every disco has its own schedule. Stop by the clubs during the day to read the posters and schedules. Dancing to modern grooves in a centuries-old city. Dance beneath a baroque building in Schwedenplatz (P1), move your body on a boat on the Danube, salsa or belly-dance at the Palais Eschenbach, or party in the 22nd District at the Donauplex (Nacht Schickt), near where I used to live! You've got about a dozen hot places to choose from in this amazing city.

Nightlife Spot: Bermuda Braue
If you like nice pubs (with good beer and cocktails), then head straight for Bermuda Braeu near Schwedenplatz. Upstairs is the restaurant area and downstairs is the bar/dance floor. Popular music as well as some classic songs are played all night long.

Nightlife Spot: American Bar
A cozy and posh bar situated in a small street near the Opera House and Kaernterstrasse; if you're into architecture and fine interiors, then this is the place for you. Lots of marble and glass is used ingeniously to make the bar appear much larger than it really is. Cocktails begin at ATS 115 each. Bahama Mamas and Flying Kangaroos (my favourite!) start at ATS 120.

Theme: People Watching
Dress Code: Jeans and a t-shirt, worn with running shoes would be highly inappropriate.

Nightlife Spot: CHE
My girlfriend from Manchester, Clare, introduced me to this large restaurant and bar with great latino music. This is where a bartender from the Dominican Republic taught me to meringue. Say 'Hi' to Ariel for me - he'll remember me as 'Elena'. Cocktails start at about ATS 120.

Donauinsel (aka Copa Kagrana): pubs, clubs, cafés, and restaurants all along both sides of the New Danube. This place is jumping during the summer but deserted during the winter months. During the last week of June, 3 million visitors from all over Europe come to the Donauinselfest, to kick off the summer. Beautiful people, fireworks, and free concerts by well-known artists and rising stars galore.

Theme: Other
Dress Code: Evening temperatures in late June hover around 30 degrees celcius. Bring a sweater, but careful not to spill Bier on yourself. Wear something that dries easily, just in case you fall into the Danube.
Directions: Take the U1 to Donauinsel station.

Nightlife Spot: Charlie P's
Charlie P's is an Irish pub that my friend, Clare, introduced me too. Her boyfriend, Kevin, manages the place and his younger brother, umm, forgot his name, is the bartender. This bar is HUGE with lots of room underground to move about.
