BREDA!
In the year 1252 Breda became officially a city. In the beginning of the 14th century they've built a wall around the city to protect themselves against enemies.
Explore the city while you are walking; you will find very nice architectual buildings, hidden churches (during WW-II it was prohibited to go to services), a castle downtown (the Royal Millitary Academy is now housed in the castle, loads of cafe's and restaurants, The Valkenberg Park and much more. At the Tourist office (VVV) you can get a map with the 'Historic Mile'.
CARNAVAL 2001! Breda is one of the places to be when there is Carnaval. It started on Feb. 24 till Tuesday the 27th.
Apart from being "the hottest place in the South" Breda is a nice town to visite. The "Grote markt" has a great variety of pubs and restaurants. We ourselves live in "Princenhage", which like "Het Ginneken" still has it's own charactaristic features. Both "Het Ginneken" and "Princenhage" used to be independant villages, but are now part of the community of Breda.
An eye-catcher in Breda is the Big Church. All kind of cultural events happen here.
