Madrid is a lively vibrant city. Wonderful for the young, but also great for "The young at heart" like us.
When our son (who lived there at the time) warned us that there were traffic jams at 1am we thought that he was exaggerating. He wasn't. We never went out for our evening meal before 11pm.
It is a completely different way of life, and we loved it. All I can say is that we long to go back. This won't be so easy now that our son no longer works there
We went at the beginning of May and the weather was beautiful then. I believe that it gets unbearably hot in July with quite a number of places closed.
We didn't find many English speaking people there so it was a good place to try out our very limited Spanish and we got by very well.
If you pay Madrid a visit I'm sure that you won't be disappointed.
