Splash of colours... Tons of smiling faces... Immense number of various scents, of tasty aromas in the air... delicious fruits, rich flavours, wonderful sights... Great people... TURKEY IS ALL THAT AND SO MUCH MORE... A truly enchanting place... |
| | As all of those people who cherish the information shared on Virtual Tourist might have guessed it already, these pages are all about personal experiences in given corners of the world. Therefore, this is Turkey... seen through my eyes. I was wondering how to share the things I found out while there... I spent most of the time in Selchuk (that is how you pronounce it: SELL-CHalk-bOOK) and made daily trips to the surrounding area and some small towns, so... The Turkey page is just... general things about the country, about the people, the customs, the everyday life in the small part of the vast turkish territory we visited. And then the Selchuk page will deal with the two weeks spent in that town as well as the visits to Shirindze, Izmir, Kushadasi, etc. |
Before I start I wouldn’t like to sound offensive here or to sound patronizing, but I do want to remind everybody who decides to travel to... well, BE OPEN AND STAY OPEN. In other words, if you go to Turkey and have already decided to nag about every single detail that you don’t like: the persistence of the merchants to sell you something, the fact that the minibuses stop just about anywhere if there is someone on the road that wants to get on, the fact that people do not really seat at the places assigned with their bus tickets, or that there are prayers five times a day and YOU WILL HEAR them... Well, just don’t go. I mean, this is true for any trip we put our minds to taking – I simply think that it is so much more enjoyable if we keep our minds open and just accept the way that a certain country, and its people of course, LIVE. I know the VTers know better but... I remember that on the bus to Izmir, I heard a language I am able to understand complaining that “they had the numbers of their seats on their tickets” and then spent the next 30 minutes dwelling over how people just don’t respect the organization... Oh man, there are WORSE things in life and in this world than having to change a seat.
Ok... I got carried away. Just remember: KEEP AN OPEN MIND and you'll have much more fun! :-) | | |
