Favorite Thing: FORGET THE TRAVELLING AGENCY IF YOU ARE WITH ONE. I would definitely suggest buying a small book on Rome because it really is a completely different experience when, apart from the visual treat, you actually know what you are seeing. There is so much history in every little stone found in this city that... it just makes more sense to be at least a little bit informed. Second, if time is limited, as it usually is, then a rough plan is needed. Setting the "priorities", the must see places. For some it might be tossing a coin in Fontana di Trevi, for others seeing the Vatican Museum, and then for others eating a pizza. Take your time and enjoy EVERY STEP you make there! Ok, now, before you start the 'leg-torture' kick it off with an Italian breakfast - at any bar order a nice cup of capuccino and corneto (tasty pastry). The cafes on Piazza di S. Eustachio are the right place for this. Ok... you're ready now!

Favorite Thing: As soon as you reach the famous street Corso, you can enter the smaller streets and go from Piazza to Piazza very easily, taking the narrow streets that have lovely architecture surrounding them. Piazza Navona, Piazza di Popolo, Piazza di Spagna, etc, etc. There are many, but these three are a must.

Favorite Thing: Even if you aren't a religious person (like myself), the Basilicas in Rome are a true architecture gem and can be at least marveled as fantastic works of art. The biggest one (in the world as well) is St. Peter's Basilica, and the other ones are: Santa Maria de Maggiore, St. Giovanni and St. Paul's Basilica. They are stun with their grandiosity and beauty. You can reach S. Giovanni Basilica by the metro, line A (the station bears the same name); St. Maria de Maggiore is very close to the station Termini; St. Paul's Basilica is a bit further away, but can be reached by metro as well, line B.

Favorite Thing: A visit to Villa Borghese inevitably needs to start with a stroll down Via Veneto. I am in love with that street... Lovely, lovely street (a metro to the station Barberini and off you go). Just before visiting Villa Borghese, we were visiting the 'rich' neighbourhood (where most of the embassies are located), located around Vialle delle Belle Arti, and it may sound funny but it is a treat for the eyes to see the architecture there. From there, work your way downwards toward the amazing gardens.

Favorite Thing: Ok, a typical tourist spot, something I usually am NOT fond of, but in this case... well, it can't be missed. Fontana di Trevi is amazing, a magnificent piece of art. It usually is very crowded all around, so try to grab a spot to sit and relax for a moment. Save up a coin for that place.
Fondest Memory: Eating a delicious ice-cream of one of the many ice-cream shops around Fontana di Trevi and looking at the beautiful fountain.
