I've visited Florence twice. Florence's Uffizi, which hosts the finest treasures of Renaissance painting, is one of my favorite museums, and the Bargello is also very impressive. However, I can't say that I care much for the city. Aside from the museums and the spectacular duomo, it is not an especially picturesque city, and its municipal leaders seem to have neglected issues of infrastructure. It is loud, heavily polluted, and swarming with vespas and tourists. My advice: come for the art, don't stay for the city. |
