Paris will give you mixed impressions. The infamously rude locals, impenetrable throngs of tourists, minefields of dog droppings, and occasionally overpowering smells of human urine battle against beautiful architecture, world-class museums, and classy cafes. Have realistic expectations, and ignore the snooty, Carl Jung-quoting attitude of many Parisians that you'll encounter, and I'm sure you'll come out unscathed.
