I had wanted to tour the Baltics since 1998, when I had my first foray to Tallinn, Estonia, for a weekend excursion from Finland.
Latvia is considered "Paris of the Baltics". The Old Town was quaint and not totally overrun by tourists, which made it especially enjoyable.
The other town where I ended up hanging out for a few days was Sigulda (also known as the "Switzerland of the Baltics - funny how they equate their national treasures, eh?), which is a lovely, tiny town, with a ton of outdoor activities to partake in.
